Masters Monday

Hey everyone! Long time no see...or talk...or blog...whatever. I have decided to commit to writing every day during Masters week since so many of our wonderful friends and family are not able to be here this week. Just know Michael and I truly appreciate every single person who has helped us get to this point in our lives and we wish we could give tickets to everyone!

So if you hadn't heard, its Masters week, which means we are in Augusta, GA getting ready for the 1st major of the year! This will be the first time Michael has played in the Masters as a professional. He played as an amateur in 2008 following a runner-up finish in the 2007 US Amateur. We are all so excited to be back 5 years later to experience the magnificence of Augusta National!

Michael and his coach Susie Meyers arrived Friday afternoon to begin preparations. Michael played a practice round with Zach Johnson and Hunter Mahan yesterday and said the course is in perfect condition, but I'd expect nothing less! I drove over to Augusta with Michael's parents Beth and Mike, and his brother and sister-in-law Zach and Krista from Birmingham yesterday, where I spent the last 24 hours showing them our new house and taking them to our home church Briarwood Presbyterian Church. We then got everyone installed into their living quarters for the week, with family staying about 5 miles from the course and Michael and me 1/2 a mile.

This morning, Michael and I woke up at about 5 am and I dropped Michael off at the course to have breakfast and begin warm-up for his 8 am practice round. He is playing the back 9 (10-18) this morning with Webb Simpson. He is wearing a magenta shirt and khakis, in case anyone is looking for him when they arrive.

This may be my shortest blog to date, but if I am gonna write everyday, I better keep it short if yall are gonna stay interested! I plan to post pictures every night as well (except during the tournament as cameras aren't allowed thursday-sunday). So be on the lookout for some fun pictures of today's events tonight!

I better go get ready to watch Michael play! Thank you God for this wonderful opportunity we have this week to glorify you! I pray that Michael and I may reflect Jesus in everything we do and people may see his power and love through how we live our lives everyday!

  1. Dear Rachel and Michael,
I remember when Thomas tried to get tickets for you and your family to attend the Masters back in college. I have worried about that failed attempt on numerous occasions. But I can thankfully say I will never fret over that again because you have the best view in the house and can experience the Masters as only a few can, from playing and competing as a Masters invitee. How very awesome!!!! Play well this week and we will be following you on the internet and on television. God be with you! Angela and Tom Hagler

  2. I am so happy for both of you. It was obvious that having the peace of the Lord was instrumental in Michael handling the pressure to win on the PGA Tour. After his showing at last year's US Open and his recent win, he has a real chance to win the Master's. If Zach Johnson can win without ever going for a par 5 in two, and young guys like Webb and Keegan winning majors...Michael can too!!! My son, Nathan and I are praying for you. Also, we look forward to following you around the Ritz Carlton course in next years Match Play Championship in Tucson.
